Welcome!
We’re excited you’re interested in recording a video for Use Your Talents (UYT). Sharing your experience is a powerful way to inspire others! Here’s everything you need to know to create a clear, engaging, and high-quality video.
Before You Record
1. Prepare Your Content
- Reflect on these key questions:
- What does UYT mean to you?
- What significant change have you seen because of UYT?
- Why would you encourage others to embrace the UYT mindset?
- Plan a short script or bullet points.
- Aim for 3–5 minutes in length — short, heartfelt, and to the point.
2. Choose Your Location
- Outdoors with a pleasant, non-distracting background is best.
- If indoors, pick a well-lit space (or use a green screen if you have one).
- Avoid noisy or busy areas to keep your audio clean.
3. Set Up Your Equipment
- Camera: Use a good-quality phone camera or, if possible, a 4K camera.
- Tripod: Keep your camera steady at eye level.
- Microphone: External microphones give the clearest sound — use one if you can!
During Recording
4. Position and Frame Yourself
- Camera height: Eye level.
- Frame: From your head to mid-chest (a medium close-up).
- Orientation: Landscape (horizontal), not vertical.
5. Check Lighting and Audio
- Natural light is best — face toward the light source.
- Even lighting across your face (no strong shadows or direct sun).
- Test sound first! Avoid wind, traffic, or background noise.
6. Speak Naturally and Engage
- Look at the camera like you’re talking to a friend.
- Smile and use natural gestures — but avoid exaggerated movements.
- Stay positive, clear, and steady in your voice.
Tip: If you are answering a question, repeat the question in your answer.
Example: Instead of just saying, “A lot,” say, “The most significant change I’ve seen through UYT is a stronger community spirit.”
After Recording
7. Review and Edit
- Watch your video fully after recording.
- If needed, trim only the very beginning and end — no heavy editing.
- Minor mistakes are fine! Authenticity is more important than perfection.
8. Save and Share
- Save your video in the highest quality available (preferably 4K).
- Upload it to the platform you were instructed to use, or send it to the UYT team.
Final Encouragement
Don’t worry about making it “perfect.” Your voice, your story, and your passion matter most. Speak from the heart, and you will inspire others to discover their talents and transform their communities.
Thank you for being part of UYT!
