Empowering Communities Through Sustainable Energy: The EELC Launches Training on Improved Cookstoves

The Environmental Project of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cameroon (EELC) has launched a remarkable initiative to empower men and women across 20 local communities with practical skills in improved cookstove construction and use.

This initiative aims to train 1,000 participants—both men and women—in creating locally made, energy-efficient stoves that significantly reduce firewood consumption. Beyond protecting the environment, this training promotes healthier cooking practices and fosters self-reliance among local households.

The sessions are being conducted from October 16 to 31 in the Touboro area, Northern Cameroon.

By turning local knowledge and available resources into sustainable solutions, this project perfectly embodies the Use Your Talents approach—mobilizing the gifts and abilities God has already placed within communities to bring lasting transformation.

This inspiring initiative from Cameroon once again shows that when people use their talents, they create change that blesses both humanity and creation.
