Experience has shown that participants who do not create a concrete plan during the workshop are often less successful in implementing the Use Your Talents (UYT) approach. For this reason, it’s essential that groups start actively working on their action plans during the workshop itself. Completing an action plan helps participants clarify their goals, define specific steps, and assign responsibilities, creating a practical roadmap to guide their initiatives. By filling out the plan together, each group not only gains a clearer sense of direction but also fosters a shared commitment, which significantly increases the likelihood of successful UYT implementation once they return to their communities.

The Use Your Talents (UYT) Action Plan is a simplified guide designed to help groups effectively outline, organize, and implement community initiatives. This action plan template provides a clear structure for groups to document their projects, including key activities, timelines, and responsibilities.

Each section prompts users to describe the “What”—the main activities or tasks involved in the project, with a brief description to ensure clarity for all participants. The “When” section helps set timeframes, encouraging participants to define specific periods or deadlines for each step. The plan also includes space for identifying the “Who”—those responsible for leading the activity, as well as other participants involved, fostering shared ownership.

An important feature of this action plan is the Indicator section, where teams identify how they’ll measure completion and success. This keeps groups focused on tangible outcomes and provides a way to evaluate progress.

The UYT Action Plan template is an invaluable tool for facilitating organized, goal-oriented projects, empowering groups to leverage their talents and resources efficiently as they work towards meaningful community change.
